Sale of Alcohol Policy
Dropshipzone recognises that the demand for alcoholic beverages sold online in Australia is a growing market that its Suppliers and Retailers rightfully want to service. Dropshipzone is committed to facilitating the dropshipping of alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner that complies with relevant legislation across all Australian jurisdictions.
Suppliers and Retailers should be aware that there are restrictions and requirements on the sale of alcoholic beverages in Australia. These restrictions and requirements can affect how liquor is sold online, and differ in each state and territory.
Suppliers and Retailers must ensure that they understand and comply with all requirements relevant to them and their listings and sales of alcoholic beverages on Dropshipzone.
These requirements can include:
- Requirements to hold a specific licence or licence condition relating to the sale of alcohol online. In some cases (for example, in Victoria) this may need to specifically name Dropshipzone.com.au on the licensee’s liquor licence;
- Requirements to include specific wording or warnings on listings of liquor; and/or
- Requirements in relation to delivery such as:
- Using a delivery service that checks the ID of a recipient to ensure they are over 18; or
- Restricting or limiting delivery of alcohol to ‘Dry Zones’
You will find more information about Australian liquor laws here.
To sell alcohol and liquor products on Dropshipzone, suppliers must:
- Have a valid liquor licence that allows them sell alcohol on the Dropshipzone marketplace and ensure they understand Australia’s liquor laws as they apply to them, and their sales of liquor on Dropshipzone;
- Provide Dropshipzone with a copy of this licence; and
- Ensure that their listings for alcohol contain any information, warnings, notices or statements that are required by their licence or relevant laws.
It is each supplier’s responsibility to ensure that they understand these requirements. Where Dropshipzone becomes aware or suspects that a supplier is not meeting their obligations, we may suspend a supplier’s liquor listings or in the case of serious or repeated non-compliance, suspend or terminate their account.
